Comments: I joined the Navy on 1-31-57, Went aboard the U.S.S. Rowe DD564 in July and served there until Dec. 1958. I was then transfered to the Claud Jones as a fireman. While home on 30 day leave I broke my foot, and didn,t report to tha Claud Jones until a few days before the commisioning in Feb. of 1959. I made 3rd class Electrician soon after reporting aboard. We went on shakedown cruise in 1959 then had to go back to New Orleans To have the firewater system replaced as they used the wrong type copper. Then we were sent to Key West Fla to train sonor students.While on board we made a nice cruise to England, and Sweden. I was discharged from the Navy from the Jones on 1-13-61.
